MANILA air jordan 6 unc pre order , July 15 (Xinhua) -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said on Saturday that the death toll in the ongoing conflict in the southern city of Marawi has reached 537, including 93 soldiers and policemen.

AFP spokesman Restituto Padilla said that as of 7 p.m. local time Friday, the military has also recorded deaths of at least 399 Islamic militants and 45 civilians. The death toll is expected to rise as the fighting to retake rebel-controlled areas within the city continues, he said.

Fighting broke out in the Philippines' only Islamic city on May 23 when militants allied with Islamic State (IS) attacked a hospital, a school and government buildings in a failed attempt to control the city.

The military said the attack was part of the militants' big plan to establish an IS caliphate in the southern Philippines, home to Filipino Muslims and several groups of Muslim insurgents that have plagued the country for decades.

The militants laid the siege while President Rodrigo Duterte and all his security officials were on an official visit to Russia. Duterte and his defense chief Delfin Lorenzana have admitted that the government has underestimated the capability of the armed insurgents that spearheaded the attack.

The military said foreign IS fighters based in Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia and Malaysia, and the Middle East like Syria have helped in planning and executing the attack.

Marawi City's more than 200,000 residents have fled the fierce fighting and military airstrikes that have damaged or destroyed several buildings and houses. Most of the evacuees, including women and children, are now housed in different evacuation centers in Iligan City and nearby areas.

The military is still conducting clearing operations to retake the city from about 100 militants who are still hiding inside some buildings and mosques in some parts of the city.

Duterte has placed the entire Mindanao Island under 60-day martial rule in the wake of the deadly attack. The AFP is currently studying whether to extend or lift the martial law, Padilla said, adding the final assessment report and recommendation will be submitted to Duterte this coming week before the martial law declaration expires on July 22.

KAMPALA, June 1 (Xinhua) -- A court in Uganda on Wednesday recharged five suspects in a 2010 bomb attack with terrorism-related offences, days after they were acquitted.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said four Kenyans and a Ugandan national appeared in Jinja Magistrate Court in eastern Uganda.

Prosecutors said the five, while at Luzira Upper Prison in the capital Kampala, created documents and materials to ask or help conspirators to carry out terror acts.

A Ugandan court last Thursday acquitted the five of charges of terrorism, murder and attempted murder. Eight other suspects were found guilty.

Twin bombs went off during the screening of the 2010 World Cup final at the Kyadondo Rugby Ground and a restaurant in Kampala on July 11, 2010, killing 76 people and leaving scores of others with serious injuries.

Somalia's Islamist militant group, Al-Shabaab, claimed responsibility for the attacks, saying they were revenge for Uganda's contribution of its troops to the African Union peacekeeping force in Somalia, which has been helping the Somali government battle Al-Shabaab. Enditem

British double Olympic champion Mo Farah on Thursday backed plans for a night-time marathon at the 2019 World Athletics Championships to be held in Qatar.

Farah, speaking in Doha where he will compete in the 3,000 meters at the 2015 -Diamond League opener on Friday, said he supported any idea that would make athletics more "exciting."

"A night marathon which is proven is better for us in terms of climate ... why not?" the Olympic 5,000 and 10,000 -meters gold medalist told a news conference.

"I think sometimes I look at athletics and how do we make it exciting? It can be exciting if we work together.

"All the time you see football on TV. It's important that we give back something to the sport and to build athletics."

A night-time marathon was one of the proposals in Qatar's successful bid to host the 2019 event.

The plan is for the runners to compete on a specially lit course along Doha's waterfront, the Corniche.

Farah is widely expected to make the switch in distances to marathon running, although he will first defend his Olympic titles in Rio next year.

The 32-year-old finished eighth in his first marathon, in London, last year. Despite his placing he still broke the English record, finishing in 2 hours 8 minutes and 21 seconds.

He was speaking after Dahlan al-Hamad, the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) vice-president who is a Qatari, confirmed that Doha was still planning to press ahead with a night-time race.

He said athletics needed "-innovation" and hoped the event would be "one of the best" of the championships.

"Innovation is something that we need," he said. "When we proposed the night marathon, we did not propose is just because we sat on the table and said 'OK.' We have practiced it and made a test for it."

Doha would not be the first athletics venue to host a -marathon run at night.

In 1964 the Olympic -marathon in Rome finished in the dark, with a course lit by torches. The .
